Welcome to Östervåla
Östervåla is a vibrant community with a strong sense of tradition and history combined with a spirit of enterprise and co-operation. Located 50 km north of Uppsala, just south of the Dalälven River, Östervåla has a population of 3,000 and is known for its 200-year tradition of chair manufacture and the Stolriket brand. Textile artisans are also very active here.

Close by
Regular bus traffic connects Uppsala and Östervåla via the historical road. A new school is slated for construction in 2007. Locals are very active in sports and associations, and Östervåla boasts a sports hall, ice hockey arena and football pitch. Ice hockey in particular is very popular, and the ladies’ football team is highly successful.
The community also has a police station, social services office and municipal administration offices. Östervåla offers extensive services, including two big grocery stores. The Hantverkscentrum arts and crafts centre is close by, with tourist information, museums and a garden centre, Den Sköna Lustgården. Song, music and culture are well loved in Östervåla, and the community has several churches. The Nedre Dalälven River is nearby with fishing, recreation and swimming.

Östervåla has over 3000 people and over 1000 job opportunities. The biggest companies are Zetterbergs Produkt AB, Elanders Tofters AB and Östervåla Kakel & Golv AB. The Municipality of Heby and the County Council offer many job opportunities in health care, social services, pre-schools and schools.
